Fancy Pants

So here it is,  my first post in over a month! It feels good to be back, I must say I have really missed it. But like I said, a break is good sometimes, and it was definitely what I needed for a little while. Without getting too sappy or boring you to death with the details, I went through a breakup recently and taking a step back from my blog was something I needed to do to really heal. It's always good to have some "me" time, and girl time, too, or course! But I am back now, and excited to share these insane pants with you guys. I love the wild ikat print paired with the bright pink sweater. It is a loud statement outfit, and I had so much fun wearing it. This sweater is my new obsession going into the Fall months, the color, fit, and warmth are perfect.

{Weekend Fun: Party Outfit}

This post will be all about what to wear to holiday parties!
Okay, okay...just kidding. It is, afterall, a bit early for that. (But, seriously, this post could be used for a holiday party outfit idea. Just saying). This weekend I attended a partay my parent's ther. It was actually very gorgeous, and a fancy gig...cocktail party. Not a partay. No problem, I love dressing up.
I have been looking for a reason to wear this dress I picked up a few months ago, and this seemed like the perfect occasion. The skirt kind of resembles a tablecloth. But in a really cute, fashionable way, right? I love this dress, might even wear it for one of those holiday parties I was rambling about.

{Army Vest Obsession}

As you guys know, I am in love with vests (See here to fully understand where I am coming from, if you don't already). This army vest from Old Navy is a total dupe for the wonderful J Crew one. I threw on a black dress, leopard print sweater, some tights and my favorite Enzo Angiolini boots and called it good. This is one of my favorite fall go-to outfits because of its comfort factor. I have been trying to layer more lately and I am pretty sure my obsession with vests is getting worse...crap!! Anyways, happy Friday!

{1 Sweater, 3 ways}

Something that happens to me all too often when shopping is finding something I literally cannot live without. So, of course, I buy it. Obviously, what other option is there really?! Then I get home and I don't have a clue what to wear it with. This happened the other day when I found a gorgeous pink sweater at a vintage store. I had to have it, then got home and realized I own zero pink. Literally, zero. Weird, right? I mean, I am a girl, this is not really normal. Anyways, I was stumped on what to pair it with because I don't really wear pink, and we are talking very bright, blinding, magenta pink people. First time for everything, though. So here are some ideas I came up with for some inspiration. Note: these outfits work with almost any color sweater. So without further adieu...

I love the rolled up True Religion jeans with the bright pink and these Zara booties are to die for. Pairing it with some arm candy, a bold, bulky necklace and this Old Navy vest makes it perfect for chilly fall weather.
This look would be perfect for a day at work followed by happy hour. Black tights are my new best friend. I used to kind of hate the feel of tights...like, I felt like my mom. But these days I guess I am channelling my inner-mom because I love them. To brighten the look, I would use some kind of belt over the sweater, around the waist. This black with gold embelishments is my pick, but another bold color would also work! I couldn't resist the fur (I am just so addicted) and the ballet flats!
This look is definitely my favorite. I would wear this everyday if I could. Seriously, though, I would. Leggings, boots and a comfy weater..who can possibly resist? Boots are my addiction, what can I say. Give me a scarf, some gold jewlery, some sunglasses and I'm set. All I need is a coffee..

I hope you got some inspiration from these, let me know if you have suggestions for my next 1 piece, 3 ways look! tweet me!

{Fall Stripes}

This is one of my favorite purchases this past summer. I got it for the 4th of July, and it was perfect for the not so warm Seattle weather. I love the notical look to it, I mean, who doesn't like a good notical dress?! The length and slightly baggy fit make it one of the most comfortable dresses I own. I got a lot of wear out of it this summer, and fortunately the past week has been pretty warm for this time of year! Pairing it with a simple denim jacket and flats for this gorgeous sunny day.

{Gap Style Event}

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween! I hope everyone had a perfectly spooky time!

This past Thursday I went to a style event at the Gap hosted by Emerald Closet. My good friend Alyson Andrews was the featured blogger of the night, and she was fabulous! It was a really good time, with styling tips, yummy snacks, goody bags and lots of bloggers! There were raffel prisez and I was beyond ecstatic to win the grand prize of a $100 visa card, a Vera Bradley clutch. It was a very good time meeting new people and seeing my friend Alyson! Many thanks to Emerald Closet, The Gap and Alyson!

{Fur Frenzy}

This vest is going to make a lot of appearances this fall/winter...so get ready, because I am in love! I have a few furs (all foux, calm down!) and I love them all. They are the perfect something extra to almost any outfit. They are warm, they are soft and they make me feel cozy. Basically, there is nothing wrong with them...at least I think so. My furs are my go-to jackets of the fall and winter, kind of like denim jackets in the spring and summer. I hope you guys enjoy!

{OOTD}

It's almost October (omg, yikes, whaaaat!?) and Seattle weather is uncharacteristically gorgeous! I am so not complaining....just pleasently surprised! The other day was sunny, gorgeous and pretty darn cold. I'll take what I can get at this point, because for the next 8 months it will be nothing but rain and cold. I am sad that these are some of the last sunny days Seattle will see for a while, but I love the rain, my rainboots, and puddles too much to care! Enjoy!

{Red all Over}

One of my favorite pass times is sitting down for hours, forgetting the world, and getting lost in one of my favorite magazines like Vogue of Vanity Fair. I love fashion and I love photography, so flipping through endless editorials is a little piece of heaven for me. Red is obviously huge this season, so here are a few of my favorite editorials with red as the centerpiece. Enjoy!

{How To: Shop So You Don't Drop}

(Warning: Content heavy! You may want to grab your reading glasses. Sorry,  I had to!)

I love me some J Crew and Nordstrom just as much as the next girl...trust me! But I am a college student on a serious budget and if I bought everything I crave I would have no savings and be eating Mac and Cheese every night. So, for me, shopping at stores like Forever 21, H&M and Nordstrom Rack has become second nature. Giving up my shopping addiction is not an option, so combining fashion with affordability is an absolute must! I also know that going into a store like Forever 21 or H&M can be really over whelming and more "work" than fun. \So here are a few tips that I use to help when sorting through the seemingly never ending racks of clothes!

1. Set A Goal: Going into a store that has literally hundreds of options and styles with no idea what you are looking for is only good if you are looking to revamp your entire wardrobe in one trip. Unfortunately, all too often you get lost or distracted by how cute something is, then when you get home you realize you have the same thing in red or that you really did not need it. So go with an intention!  I can't stress this enough...know what you are looking for before you even go in the front door! This will save you time and money.

2. Budget, Budget, Budget: Like knowing what you want, know how much you are willing to spend. Cheaper stores like Forever and H&M are actually easier to over spend in because you don't think about the total cost as much when grabbing things. Don't let this fool you!

3. Try Everything On: Some people might not agree with this, but in a mass produced store it is safe to assume (in my experience, anyways) two things...1) No one size fits the same for every piece of clothing (ESPECIALLY because these are juniors sizing, so don't feel bad, you're not alone) and 2) Nothing looks the same on as it does on the hanger! <--- No, really, I know this for a fact!

4. Don't Rush: Going into a huge store and coming out with quality things that aren't going to fall apart after one wear or that are things you want and need is based on being meticulous. I give myself at least an hour to go through the store and try things on. I have to look at everything and really see if it is worth the buy or if I am just loving the sequins. So give yourself time to look, I prefer going alone so I never feel rushed by a friend.

5. Talk Yourself Down: This is very important. You are in a huge store, looking at all sorts of cute things that you feel that you "have to have" or you might cry. I know the feeling, trust me. But being able to ask yourself if you "need it" or simply "want it" is key to being a good shopper. If you need the black dress for a party and it can function again at another event, get it. If you are going to wear the red skinny jeans more than 5 times, get them! But, be careful...if you just like the look of the bright pink heels, ask yourself when you will wear them, how much are they, how many times will you wear them, and are they even cute? Sometimes there are things worth getting just for fun, but most of the time you don't need it and will regret it. So be realistic!

6. HAVE FUN! Some people have told me (including a lot of my close friends) that they get too overwhelmed in Forever 21 or H&M that they never find anything and in time they hate going in there. I tell them to do these things and try again because it really is a shame to never go to these stores. I love quality clothes and definitely buy them often as well, but for things that go in and out as quick as they came, or some cheap, cute items that you can't splurge on, these are great places to look! There are a lot of good pieces that follow the recent trends! So give it a shot and don't get discouraged :)

{Currently Crushing: Ryan Gosling Style}

I don't know whats going on with me lately, but men's fashion is getting the best of me. For good reason, though, Ryan Gosling has won me over in the style department. With his recent movie Crazy, Stupid Love, he was beyond fashionable. I mean, not only was he a real life McDreamy, but his outfits almost distracted me from the movie... I was that obsessed. His style perfection didn't end there, during his premiere tour he was dressed as sharp as ever. Here is some serious eye candy...Enjoy!

and my own, personal favorite...kodak moment with his beloved dog...

I think my personal favorite is the last one, there is just too much going on in this picture not to love it. His trusty canine is wearing what looks to be a sock? Not to mention Ryan's casually put together look of a perfectly fitted suit and a t-shirt. Basically, my final thoughts are that he is one hot sob. Hope you enjoyed this delish eye candy, and happy Monday!
