Spring Prep

{Skirt: Forever 21}{Shirt: J Crew}{Shoes: Urban Outfitters}{Watch: Invicta}{Necklace: Forever21}
This might be one of the more preppy outfits I have ever put together. Somehow, though, I seem to be getting more and more preppy in my personal style. I try to switch it up regularly and not define my style by a type. I wear what I like, but what I like seems to be J Crew. I loved every single thing about this outfit, especially the white tennis shoes. I feel like they really gave the outfit a completely different feel. So as if the outfit wasn't preppy enough, add the shoes, and now it definitely is. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Mother's Day {OOTD}

{Shoes: Steve Madden}{Dress: Forever 21, found here}{Arm Candy: H&M, Forever21, Nordstrom}
Happy Mother's Day to all you mommy's out there! I hope today is treating every mom amazingly. My family and I went to brunch, and it was delicious, per usual. I think I ate more bacon and waffles than I ever have before. So delish, I just couldn't resist. Now lets talk about this dress. I swear every single time I go shopping, without fail, I find at least one dress I must have. It takes every ounce of will power and self discipline I have to keep myself from buying them. I have far too many dresses, and I wear them too little. Basically, I collect them. I have been doing a good job talking myself out of dresses, but this kelly green dress wouldn't leave my mind. The color, the fit, the belt. I just had to get it, and I am so happy I did. It is the perfect spring dress.

Gift Ideas {Mother's Day}

1. Mani Pedi. What mother wouldnt want to get a mani and pedi with their darling daughter? Who cares if you cant splurge on a fancy spa, go to your local nail salon and your mom will love the time together.

2. Glassybaby. these things have become more popular than ice cream on a hot day, im telling you. Its nuts. but they are amazing, and perfect decor for any home. Grab your mom the color she is missing and its a gift you will surely see around the house.

3. Sweet Tooth. My mom has a serious sweet tooth, I think it runs in the family. She cant get enough of cholocate. Salted caramel cholocates are the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion. Grab a box and its sure to recieve a warm welcome by mom.

4. Techno-Love. I don't know about you, but my mom has a boring old phone case on her lovely iphone. She always tells me she is looking for a new, cute one, but doesnt know where to go to look. This is the perfect time to get one you know she will love and that is a little more fun and upbeat than that dreary black one she has been rocking for far too long.

5. Scented Love. A great candle can go a long way. Anthorpology has some amazing scented candles that are affordable and to die for cute. This is a small gift that goes a long way.

6. Wine. A good bottle of wine goes a long way, for a little amount. Believe it or not this could be the cheapest and best gift on here, but if a bottle doesnt seem like enough go the extra mile and get some crackers, cheese and other fun foods and have a glass with her. Another idea is a wine tasting at a local wine bar. Fun, and another quality time spender that the mom will adore.

7. Jewlery/Stand. Depending on how much you want to spend, or if you think you can afford jewlery your mom will like or actually wear, it can make quite a great gift. I usually leave this gifting pleasure up to dad, but hey you can get her some earrings, too! If you know dad is getting her a necklace get her a jewlery rack. This tree one is to die for it is so cute, and then she will have a nice new place to display her new jewlery.

8. Paint the Town. if you are creative, crafty, artistic and talented then maybe you are the perfect person to paint pottery for your mom. I painted a mug for my mom last year that she uses at her office. I am not saying it was beautiful or anything, by all means it was a mess, but its the thought that counds, right? its kind ofroni necklaces we made at kids, they loved them because we made them not because they looked good on.

9. Shoe up. Toms are here to stay. In style, comfortable, and best of all affordable. They come in so many colors that mom is sure to like one of them. Perfect shoe to give for mothers day

10. Bake. Last, but not least, bake her something. If you are totally broke, or even if you just dont know what in the heck to get the woman who has raised you, then by all means bake her something. Cupcakes, cake, pie, cookies, anything. She will love the thought and effort, and really its the thought that counts.

Check Mate

 {Skirt: J Crew}{Denim Button Dwon: H&M Mens}{Shoes:}{Clutch: Gucci}{Leaf bracelet: Forever 21}

Say hello to my new favorite item, this lovely skirt from J Crew. Not only is this cute all on its very own, but the price makes it even more spectacular. $11.88 was all I paid for this bad boy. Not sure why, or how I became so lucky, but I really hit the jackpot on my latest J Crew adventure. It was on the sale rack, with an additional 30% off of the lowest sale price. I was in awe, but thought there was no way it would be my size. Wrong! It was my size. You could say my reaction was somewhat like a child in the summer when they hear the ice cream truck coming. It was just that exciting.

Simply Turquoise

{Shoes: French Connection}{Pants: H&M} {Sweater: Old from Nordstrom} {Bag: H&M} {Arm Candy: H&M}

Turquoise is one of my favorite colors. I was never really into pink when I was growing up, I always loved deep purples, blues and yellow....weird, right? What little girl doesn't want to wear every shade of pink? Yeah, I was that weird little girl. Anyways, this outfit was pretty simple. Black on black on black, mixed with a white t-shirt. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, leather pants added the more to the less. To brighten it up,  and keep me from looking Gothic, I added this gorgeous turquoise clutch. To add something extra different, I caved into the geek glasses frenzy. Yep, late on the bandwagon, but I am on board. These glasses are my new "ugly day" go-to. I feel like they hide my eyes, almost like I take on a different persona. Weird? Again...oh, well. They are different and make me feel like I am playing dress up. So much fun to try something different and out of my usual wardrobe choices, I highly recommend it.

[A Pop of Pink}

{Boots: Vince Camuto}{Jeans: Virgo}{Blazer: H&M}

Pink has never been my favorite color. When I was growing up all my friends loved pink, while I was obsessed with purple or blue. But something happened in the past year or so, and now I can't get enough of hot pink. This blazer is definitely one of my favorite purchases this year, the color and fit is perfect. Apparently my friend Alyson (if you haven't checked out her blog, you should do that here) have the same taste, because we showed up matching. We both can't get enough of this pink blazer.

{Currently Craving} The Oxford Shoe Trend

My latest object of desire has me in a perpetual state of day dreaming. I literally cannot get my mind off of oxford shoes. Considering oxfords have been around since the 17th century, and are pretty much the epitome of all that is preppy, some might say my new obsession is a bit late. However, I say better late than never, right? And this fashionista is jumping on the oxford bandwagon like it is the last wagon in the world. What I love most about the oxford shoe, other than how preppy it is, is the fact that these shoes can be worn with so many other trends. Because of their recent boom in popularity, designers are making oxford's in so many styles and colors, they is getting more and more fun by the season.

The above beauties are from Cole Haan's 2012 season. How gorgeous and fun are they? I am so in love the with detailed color stitching, and especially the pop of color on the sole of the shoe. They are different, fun, and could be dressed up or down.

Loving her casual look here with the rolled up distressed denim, oxfords and a simple shirt under a blazer. Preppy-casual at it's finest.
Another trend I have been seeing a lot and loving is the metalic look. Olivia Palermo rocked some hardcore metalic silver oxfords in NYC, and looked great. Again, she dressed them down for a more casual look, but I think the metalic color adds instant fun factor.

A totally different way of wearing this trend, but dressing it up a bit, is the oxford heel. Taylor Swift seems to rock this trend a lot with all of her vintage dresses, and floral prints. I love the idea of a oxford pump because you get all the preppy goodness, along with the height and dressiness of a heel. In short, this trend is something I adore and will definitely be partaking in.
